The Filming Begins :)
Hello and welcome back to the blog! Today I will be talking about our first day of filming. As I said we did film our first day on February 11th at Alexa’s house. I arrived first and Desiree and Kimora shortly after. While Alexa provided her camera, tripod, and the first filming location (the bathroom), Desiree brought her main part for her costume and I brought the storyboard, a pair of white sunglasses, and white purse for our main character's costume. First thing that happened was that Desiree changed into her costume. When she was changing we realized that we didn't have any lip gloss for Desiree so Kimora was very kind and drove back to her house to get a lip gloss. While Kimora went to go get the lip gloss Desiree got ready and we started to find how we wanted to position the camera in the bathroom for the first scene. :)
Remember when I said we changed our production name, well that was because we met Alexa’s dog, Bono, who is the cutest and we got inspired to change the name. But let's get back to the filming stuff. So we found the right angles for the first scene in the bathroom and then later on we moved it around for different shots that we wanted like trying to see her reflection in the mirror which we had to play with the tripod. One of the first struggles was that we were trying to work with the tripod and how to find the right angles and to make the camera straight but eventually we got there. Moreover, another struggle we had was forgetting things such as dialogue and little things like that. (My fault.) It's because we would get so focused on one aspect that we forgot about the others. Moreover, another challenge was getting the whip pan right. It was hard to get the timing right because I would text Kimora to knock on the door and then Alexa would have to whip the camera and make sure it landed exactly where it was before but eventually we got the hang of it even if it is not perfect. IN addition, we had the challenge of making Desiree cry. I know it sounds weird, but since Desiree’s character was going through a panic attack she was supposed to tear up a little but we did find a solution to this. Desiree would hold her eyes open while I would flap the paper in front of her that way the wind of the paper would make her eyes watery. Here is some footage of that!
So that was how our first day of filming went. I am writing this blog pretty late after our first day, so the second day of filming has already happened, but don't worry I will be writing about that soon. As for reshoots for this filming day, I think it won't be necessary as I think we got everything we wanted. Overall, it was a great first day for our project. We all can't wait to see the end product. Until next time.
