Judgement Day (uh oh)

Hi and welcome back to the blog! Today we will be talking about some of my peers clips that they filmed to practice various shots and mine. It is judgement day folks. But its fine because we only support and use constructive criticism here.

To begin, I commented on my lovely peer, Alexa. Her blog is well organized and is very much her style. Moreover, her shots were great. Out of all her shots, my favorite one was the low angle shot. From the blogs I saw, she was one of the few who incorporated an object instead of a person. When filming we believe that we only have to focus or create emphasis/emotion on humans, but sometimes an object show more of an impact than an actual person. The low angle making this usually small fire hydrant, seem big and powerful created a great effect. Just with that one clip you can make a millions of stories. You can only make a film about objects or in a film with people, you can compare how small/weak it actually is by having a kid break it. The angle and the idea of my peer was amazing.

The second peer I commented on was Daniel Y. His blog is great because it truly feels like a professional is blogging. A great aesthetic! The clip that I most enjoyed was the high angle shot. (I know ironic.) However, I did like this idea of this shot and felt that it was executed well. In the shot you have Daniel laying down and the camera above. usually, high angles creates this feeling of weakness or making the character feel weak themselves, however, in this clip I did not feel that. It seems that Daniel is relaxing and is taking in his surroundings. The feeling I do get from this clip is calmness but at the same time helplessness, not necessarily weakness. I know that camera angles have a feeling they usually create,  but I feel that at the end of the day they vary due to the context within in the film. Overall, I felt that he did a great job and feel that he will continue to do so.

Time to compare! All in all, I feel that my peers and I did a great job for our first time making these type of shots. I feel that the creation of the shot, we all did pretty much the same. We understood what the shots looked like and how to film it. However, the one part where I feel that my peers did a better job than me is their creativity. Alexa with her fire hydrant and Daniel with his relax pose were great and creative. I feel that my clips were good, however, I did common/known scenes that are used in those type of shots. Maybe if I had more time to think I would have thought of something more out of the box, but either way I still feel proud of my shots.

Judgement Day has come to an end and I feel that I have reflected on my peers and mine work, and feel that they were good. Obviously, we need more practice, but it was great for the first time. Hope to see you soon and see you next time! :)
